Welcome to the museum and archives of the oldest incorporated city in western Canada. The beginning of the New Westminster Museum and Archives is found in 1950, when the City of New Westminster purchased Irving House, one of the oldest homes in Metro Vancouver. Since its beginning as a historical centre, a number of dedicated people have worked hard to ensure that the rich heritage of the city is preserved for present and future generations by collecting an ever growing number of artefacts and documents of every kind. The most significant “artefact” being Irving House itself. Along with Irving House, the museum and archives make up the remaining components of the NWMA and are located in the building next door.
Take a guided tour, or virtual tour, of Irving House or visit the archives to conduct research. View the exhibits in the museum or attend a program.
