Creating Community Pride!

The development of Public Art in the City of New Westminster is one of six objectives under the 2008 Arts Strategy. Currently, under a sub-committee of the Arts Commission, a Public Art Master Plan is evolving, featuring policies and funding strategies to help foster public art in New Westminster.

The goal is to create opportunities for public art through community initiatives, city-initiated projects, relationships with private developers and artists, so that a growing collection of public art is commissioned and sustained over the coming years.

Public art is key to creating a City identity that fosters community pride, tourism and reflects local history and geography.
